Firefighters Spend Weekend
Training in MoundsvilleMOUNDSVILLE
-- Dozens of area firefighters got some vital training in a
unique setting.
This was all part of the annual Marshall County Fire School
held Saturday and Sunday.
Ladder trucks were used to hoist firemen into the windows of
the old West Virginia Penitentiary.
A variety of scenarios were played out.
A fire captain from Harrison County, West Virginia, called
it an excellent location to train.
"I guess homeland security uses this for police riot
training. They have facilities upstairs. There's a room you
can use. You can do anything scenario-wise," said Captain
Rodney Strait of the Bridgeport, WV, Fire Department.
Firefighters from Washington Lands, Moundsville and McMechen
were among the firefighters taking part.
